The right place to start

Shallow water, an often calm sea and sheltered seabeds: Santa Marinella is our sea “training ground”. This is where we do the first dives of the Open Water courses, get comfortable with the equipment and consolidate techniques in complete calm.

What you can see

Sandy and rocky seabeds with small Mediterranean fauna: sea breams, damselfish, octopuses, nudibranchs, the odd cuttlefish. Not the depths of the nearby wrecks, but the perfect place to learn to observe and move well underwater.

How it works

Dives are often from shore or with short boat transfers, always with a guide or instructor. It’s the site we choose for courses and for “easy” outings. Never tried before? You start with the free pool try-dive, then the sea at Santa Marinella is the natural next step.

FAQ

Is it suitable for beginners?

Yes, it’s the ideal site to start: shallow, sheltered seabeds and a generally calm sea. We do the first dives of the courses here.

Can I do my try-dive here?

The try-dive is done for free in the pool; Santa Marinella is the next step, for your first real dives in the sea.

Do I need a certification?

To dive you need at least to be enrolled on a course or to hold the Open Water certification. To try without a certification, there’s the pool.

When can you dive?

Practically all year round with the right wetsuit; from spring to autumn it’s more comfortable and visibility is better.
