Diving at Ponza and Ventotene

The Pontine Islands are the jewel of Lazio diving: clear waters, walls dropping into the blue, caves, natural arches and wrecks. They’re the destinations of our weekends, where diving, sea and good company meet.

Ponza: shoals, caves and wrecks

Around Ponza there are dives for all levels: from the Formiche, with natural arches, caves and dens suitable even for the less experienced, to the Secca dei Mattoni (down to about 25 metres, with Roman amphorae and currents for more expert divers). For wreck lovers there’s the LST 349, a Second World War landing craft off the western coast.

Ventotene: barracuda and the Santa Lucia wreck

At Ventotene one of the finest dives is La Molara (16–20 metres), with shoals of barracuda, dusky and golden groupers, amberjacks and dentex. More demanding is the Grotta dei Gamberi, a shoal at around 40 metres with arches and rock spurs. The wreck of the steamer Santa Lucia, sunk in 1943, rests at around 40–46 metres: a history-laden dive for advanced divers.

How you experience them with us

Ponza and Ventotene are the destinations of our weekends and group outings: we go as a group, with expert guides, choosing sites based on the participants’ levels. A little journey, a big experience. You’ll find the dates in the calendar.

FAQ

Do I need an advanced certification?

It depends on the site: there are easy dives suitable even for Open Water divers (like the Formiche) and deeper sites, shoals and wrecks, reserved for advanced and technical divers. We choose based on your level.

Can I come if I’m a beginner?

Yes, as long as you have at least the Open Water certification: we take you to suitable sites. If you don’t have the certification, we start from the courses.

When do you go to the Pontine Islands?

Mostly in summer, when the sea is more stable and the islands are at their best. Outings are organised as group weekends.

How does the weekend work?

We organise transfer, guided dives and logistics; you just think about diving and enjoying the island. Details and dates in the calendar or on request.
