The mermaid experience: put on your monofin and tail and discover what it’s like to swim like a creature of the sea, in the pool, safely and guided by an instructor. Great fun for young and old alike — from age 6. At the end you’ll receive the SSI Try Mermaid recognition.
The complete course to swim like a mermaid and earn the SSI Mermaid certification: monofin technique, breath control, buoyancy and water safety. Three pool sessions plus theory and a final exam, to turn play into a real skill. From age 12.
The next step: take your mermaid technique from the pool to the sea. After the Mermaid certification, you add open-water dives and earn the SSI Ocean Mermaid certification, to swim like a mermaid in the blue too. From age 12.
Swimming like a mermaid isn’t just spectacular: it’s a complete aquatic activity that combines monofin technique, breath control and buoyancy. The journey starts with Try Mermaid — the taster experience open to children from age 6 — all the way to the SSI Mermaid certification from age 12: fun and perfect for youngsters, families and adults who want to experience the water in a new way.
You’ll learn to move with elegance and safety using the tail in our heated pool at EUR, guided by our qualified instructors. A magical experience, perfect for those who love underwater photography and video too.
Try Mermaid is open from age 6 (you just need to be able to swim a dozen metres), while the full Mermaid course starts from age 12. Perfect, then, for youngsters, families and adults.
For Try Mermaid you just need to feel comfortable in the water and be able to swim a few metres. For the Mermaid course there’s a short water-confidence assessment (swimming 50 m without stopping, or 100 m with mask and fins, plus a float): nothing competitive. The rest — monofin, breathing and buoyancy — you’ll learn on the course.
